Citadel Insurance Group, Inc. ("Citadel," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your nonpublic personal information ("NPI"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information pursuant to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), South Carolina Insurance Department Regulation 69-58, and the South Carolina Insurance Data Security Act (S.C. Code Ann. § 38-99-10 et seq.).

We collect personal information necessary to quote, underwrite, service, and administer insurance coverage on your behalf. The types of Nonpublic Personal Information (NPI) we collect include:

  • Identifiers & Contact Info: Name, home address, billing address, phone number, email address, date of birth, Social Security Number, and driver’s license number.
  • Underwriting & Risk Data: Driving history, vehicle vehicle identifi cation numbers (VINs), property details, mortgage holder information, claims history, and commercial loss runs.
  • Financial Data: Payment card details, banking information (for premium payment processing), credit history, and credit-based insurance scores.
  • Consumer Reporting Data: Information obtained from consumer reporting agencies (such as LexisNexis), including credit reports, C.L.U.E. loss reports, and Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs).
  • Automated Web Data: IP addresses, browser type, device details, and website interaction data collected via cookies and web analytics tools when you navigate our Site.

2. How We Use Your Information

Citadel uses the personal information we collect for legitimate business purposes, including:

  • Generating comparative insurance quotes across multiple insurance carrier partners;
  • Processing formal insurance applications, binding policies, and servicing existing accounts;
  • Communicating policy updates, billing notices, claim updates, and customer support messages;

3. Sharing & Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to non-affi liated third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

We share your Nonpublic Personal Information (NPI) strictly as permitted or required by law (specifi cally under S.C. Reg. 69-58), which includes disclosures to:

  • Insurance Carriers & Underwriters: Third-party insurance companies and general agencies to evaluate risks and issue policy quotes;
  • Service Providers: Companies that perform operational support on our behalf (e.g., agency management systems, IT hosting, payment processing, e-signature services), bound by strict contractual confidentiality;
  • Claims Adjusters & Industry Representatives: Adjusters, inspectors, and reinsurers involved in processing claims or servicing your policy;
  • Legal & Regulatory Authorities: Law enforcement, regulators (including the SCDOI), or judicial entities pursuant to a lawful court order, subpoena, or administrative mandate.

Note: Once your personal data is submitted to a third-party insurance carrier to issue a policy, that carrier maintains independent legal custody of your data subject to its own state and federal privacy disclosures.

4. Data Security Safeguards (SC Insurance Data Security Act)

Pursuant to the South Carolina Insurance Data Security Act (S.C. Code Ann. § 38-99-20), Citadel maintains a written Information Security Program (WISP) incorporating administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to:

  • Protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of nonpublic customer information;
  • Restrict unauthorized access to consumer records and systems through multifactor authentication, encryption, and strict access controls;
  • Monitor digital systems for cybersecurity events and maintain incident response plans.

While we take all commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, no transmission over the internet or electronic storage system is 100% secure.

5. Cookies & Digital Tracking

Our Site uses cookies, web beacons, and analytical tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to improve user experience, analyze site performance, and ensure web functionality. Cookies do not collect sensitive NPI like Social Security Numbers. You can adjust your web browser settings to refuse cookies, though certain Site features may function with reduced capability.

  • Consumer Reporting Disputes: Information obtained from consumer reporting agencies (MVRs, credit scores, loss history) must be corrected directly through those respective agencies (e.g., LexisNexis) pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
  • Opt-Out Disclosure (GLBA / SC Reg 69-58): Because Citadel only shares your information with non-affi liated third parties to service policies, quote coverage, or satisfy legal mandates, we fall under statutory exceptions and are not required to offer an opt-out for standard operational disclosures.

7. Children's Privacy Notice

Our Site is directed solely to adults searching for personal and commercial insurance solutions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 pursuant to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

8. Policy Updates
